White House Emails Mysteriously Missing

So Much For Accountability

August 20. 2008

The emails flew away, then?

Further illustrating his presidency is not about transparency and honesty, incriminating Bush administration emails are missing. 225 days worth to be exact. Where is the accountability in that? America is a democracy, not an autocracy. Exactly what were they doing that it needed this mass deletion to keep it hidden.

This type of secrecy and evasiveness does not meet with the nation’s laws and founding principles. Then again, they didn’t have emails back then that could send them to jail for corruption from the highest office in the land.

It looks very questionable that so many vital days of his presidential activity have mysteriously been deleted. It’s not clever, cute or funny. It’s disgraceful and dishonest.

It is clear George W. Bush is determined to end his presidency on the lowest note possible, relegated to the annals of history as an unmitigated disaster on legs, that brought gloom, doom and destruction wherever he swayed.

White House missing as many as 225 days of e-mail

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is missing as many as 225 days of e-mail dating back to 2003 and there is little if any likelihood a recovery effort will be completed by the time the Bush administration leaves office, according to an internal White House draft document obtained by The Associated Press.

Advocacy Groups Win One on White House E-mail

Judge recommends a search of administration's e-mail despite the DoJ's dissent.

July 30, 2008 - A U.S. District Court yesterday quashed an effort by the Department of Justice (DoJ) to fight legal action related to missing White House e-mails.

The DoJ, which is representing the White House, had disapproved of the court's previous recommendation on e-mail preservation in the Executive Office of the President (EOP). The court had advised the EOP to search desktops and movable media used between March 2003 and October 2005 for missing e-mails.
