36-year-old Angela Hock is under arrest for billing herself as a midwife via her business Nebraska Birth Keeper, despite the fact she has no medical license, in acts that resulted in the death of a baby through criminal negligence. Paramedics were summoned to a bathroom during one of Hock’s home births gone wrong. The baby was a breech birth, which gave untrained Hock significant difficulty during the attempted delivery that she unlawfully undertook.

Paramedics quickly rushed the mother, Emily Noe, 25, to the hospital, where doctors completed the delivery process. However, it was noted that the baby had “no respiration or pulse.” The baby, who was named Vera, was placed on life support, but removed 2-days later, due to the extent of her birth related complications, caused during the unlicensed home delivery by Hock in her bathroom. The baby died of oxygen depravation, due to the botched home birth.

The incident occurred in the U.S. state of Nebraska, which bars home births. This resulted in Hock’s arrest for the unlicensed practice of medicine and the death of the baby. She is potentially facing 20-years in prison. The unlicensed practice of medicine is very serious and dangerous. The conduct this generation is engaging in is very troubling. This generation is faking everything they can.

In this day and age where people are faking so much on reality TV and social networking, and we’ve even witnessed the college admissions scandal where rich and famous people bought their kids’ way into prestigious schools, too many people want to be an instant success without doing the hard work. There is a reason people go to medical school. There is a reason people go to law school. It is all to be properly trained. These shortcuts people are taking today are dangerous and deadly.

A fake doctor can cost you your life. A fake lawyer can cost you your freedom. Even on a smaller scale, people hire unqualified people to work on their homes and it causes an electrical fire, structural collapse or property damage. You hire a fake financial advisor and lose your money. In entertainment and sports, people hire unqualified people who dispense management and financial advice, costing them their careers and significant sums of money.

Do not take it for granted when people study for many years to be great in their chosen field. It’s not something to sneeze at. Just because you see someone performing a certain task, don’t deceive yourself and assume that without training and the required intelligence you can do the same.

Nebraska midwife charged after at-home birth ends in tragedy

Thursday, July 4, 2019 10:06PM - An Omaha woman was arrested on felony charges Wednesday after overseeing a birth as a midwife that resulted in the death of the baby, authorities said. Angela Hock was charged with negligent child abuse resulting in death after she attempted to deliver a breech baby at a woman's home last month, according to court documents.

Medics were dispatched to the Omaha home on June 15 when they found the mother, 25-year-old Emily Noe, still in labor with Hock holding the partially-delivered baby, according to an incident report from Omaha Police. The baby was partially delivered in the breech position, meaning the bottom half of its body was delivered first, according to the report. Hock allegedly asked the medics for medical scissors when they arrived on the scene.

Once given the scissors, Hock performed an "obstetrical procedure of the peritoneum," a membrane in the abdominal cavity, to see if she could deliver the head of the baby, but the procedure did not help, according to a court affidavit. "The baby was eventually delivered by squad personnel while in route to the emergency room. The baby was limp and had no respirations or pulse," according to the affidavit. "Resuscitation efforts were performed at that time. The baby was taken to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit upon arrival at the hospital and placed on life support."...
