‘Empire’ Ratings Continue To Plunge Failing
To Capitalize On The Jussie Smollett Scandal

I have consistently maintained on this site
the phrase “all publicity is good publicity” is a lie. Some
publicity can destroy careers, companies and create massive
revenue declines. Bad publicity is just what it says, bad.
Disgraced Hollywood actor, Jussie Smollett, has found this
out the hard way. Smollett infamously filed a false police
report this past January, fraudulently stating two white
Trump supporters beat him up, poured bleach on him, tied a
noose around his neck and issued racial and homophobic
slurs.
The whole thing turned out to be a lie. Police
turned on him, as did the public, over the divisive hoax he
staged to stay on the “Empire” television show and receive a
salary increase. Now both are in jeopardy, as they are looking
for ways to write him out of the show. His name is ruined.
Projects he appear in will have that taint by association and
suffer sales losses.

This week’s episode of “Empire” contained
scenes with Smollett, who is openly gay, marrying another
man. The network hoped the publicity surrounding Smollett
having been arrested for filing a false police report, would
give the show a ratings boost. However, ratings continue to
plunge. People are tuning out in droves. The show lost a few
hundred thousand more viewers this week. Once again, not
“all publicity is good publicity.”
