Guilty Verdict Reached In London In The Murder Of Model Harry Uzoka

August 15. 2018

Harry Uzoka's friend and peers in modeling have written tributes to him online

A jury at the Old Bailey court in London, England have reached a guilty verdict in the murder of 25-year-old Nigerian/British model, Harry Uzoka. The jury found 24-year-old model George Koh and his two accomplices (Merse Dikanda and Jonathan Okigbo, both aged 24) guilty in the murder of Uzoka, who was stabbed to death in a dispute over his girlfriend, Ruby Campbell. Koh and Dikanda were found guilty of murder (Dikanda was on probation when he committed the crime). Okigbo was found guilty of manslaughter, which is a lesser charge. Sentencing is scheduled for September 21, 2018.

Koh was jealous of Uzoka's rise in modeling, then began copying his every career and personal move. Koh sought to upset his one time friend, Uzoka, by stating he had sex with his girlfriend, Ruby Campbell. The two men exchanged words in private messages on the social networking site Instagram.com and agreed to meet for a fight. However, Koh and his friends turned up with knives, whereas, Uzoka had a barbell bar and was stabbed to death.

A promising young life was cut tragically short over foolishness. So many people would love to have the opportunities Uzoka and Koh had, earning good income in a glamorous job, living in a great city like London. However, Koh instigated and provoked a situation that ended Uzoka's life. Koh and his friends are now facing prison for these poor choices.

Jealousy really is a terrible thing. It has caused people to lie, cheat, steal and kill. It is an unhealthy emotion that has a destructive component, which if not kept in check, destroys lives. Do not covet other people's success and possessions. Be thankful for what you have in life and do not compare yourselves to others. It always leads to negativity, which can breed trouble.

Side Bar: this case is another example of how inappropriate and unlawful conduct on social networking can come back to haunt someone, even in private messages. Police were able to subpoena the private messages from Instagram, between the two models, which illustrated the fact they were in a dangerous dispute and violence was being introduced to the equation. The situation ultimately cost Uzoka his life and the private messages on Instagram aided in the prosecution and conviction of Koh and his friends.

Even deleted messages can be retrieved if a world government is determined enough. People need to be mindful of what they write on social networking, not only on public pages, but in private messages as well. It creates a digital trail that can be used at trial.
