Police Arrest Two Gang Members For Arson House Fire That Killed 7-Year-Old Boy At Drug Dealer’s Family Home

August 13. 2018

Thw house fire in London's Deptford that killed 7-year-old Joel Uhrie

This is a follow up to last week’s article “7-Year-Old Boy Killed In Arson House Fire By His Brother’s Gang Rivals ” dated August 9, 2018, regarding the tragic death of little Joel Uhrie. This week the Metropolitan Police arrested two male gang members, ages 21 and 29, for the arson attack, aimed at Joel’s big brother, 21-year-old Sam Uhrie, who is a convicted drug dealer.

Sam Uhrie has also been arrested, but not for the deadly fire. He violated probation, after recently being released from prison on a 2-year stint for drug dealing offenses. The judge issued an order for Sam Uhrie, “On an urgent recall to prison.” Once again we see how dangerous gang and drug violence can be. An innocent 7-year-old child died a terrible death because of callous, jaded, drug dealing gang members.

There are a few things that stand out in this case. People tell their kids to stay inside to stay out of trouble and by and large it works. However, heartless gang members decided to bring the violence to the home of a rival and it cost a child his life. People aren’t even safe in their houses anymore.

Another takeaway from this story. Some don’t grasp the trouble they bring on their families with their unlawful, money hungry acts. Not only does dealing drugs bring disgrace on dealers’ families when their conduct is discovered and they are arrested, innocent bystanders, such as little Joel Uhrie, end up paying the ultimate price.

I encourage the public to stay away from gang activity and drug dealing. Live your life the right way. Stay away from crime. The fast life and so-called easy money through criminal means, always catches up to people. Don’t lie to and kid yourself that you or anyone else can beat the system or is exempt from the consequences of living a criminal lifestyle. It always catches up to people and sadly can destroy those around them as well.

The Metropolitan Police said the 21-year-old had not been arrested as a suspect in last Tuesday’s blaze at the family home in Deptford, south-east London, which killed brother Joel. A spokesman for the force said: “A 21-year-old man was arrested by police in Lewisham on Friday, 10 August on behalf of the Probation Service following an urgent recall to prison.

“He was not arrested as a suspect in the ongoing murder investigation following the fatal fire in Deptford.” Two men, aged 21 and 29, were arrested in connection with the fire on Saturday morning.
