Judiciary Report - Stars Are Sued

This has not been a good month for Paris Hilton...and it's only the 4th of the month. Not only has she been jailed, she is being sued for copyright infringement and has been dropped by her label Warner "we steal all the time" Bros.

Almost a year ago I mentioned in my Sound Off Column that Paris, under fellow Warner Bros artist and Kabbalah cult cohort Madonna's tutelage, ripped off Jamaican-British reggae band UB40. She stole their 1990 song "Kingston Town" for her 2006 song "~~Sluts~~ Stars Are Blind." Their preexisting copyright trumps her rip off, unlawfully registered copyright by 16 years.

She stole their song and slapped it together with one of my years old copyrighted music videos from my Copyrighted Catalog containing 9,000 songs, 300 movie scripts and short stories, 15 book manuscripts, 200 music video treatments, 500 photographs, 150 photo treatments, a perfume line and clothing line.

Last week, I saw a link on TMZ posted by a message board user that lead to UB40’s web site and a track called "Kingston Town," which is another name for the capital of Jamaica, where I was born.

In listening to the song, I was stunned at how much it sounds like the later released “Stars Are Blind” but with my bass line and copyrighted music video treatment that she ripped off. Both UB40's copyrights and separately mine, all secured years before Paris decided she wanted to pretend she is a singer.

And it’s nothing to do with color or her being an airhead valley girl. After all, UB40, lead by a flame haired, white British man sounds like credible, authentic reggae. Not to mention, Jamaicans played the life out of their remake of “Red, Red Wine.”

Side bar: To the Jamaicans reading the site, when it hit the island, shouldn't it have been "Red, Red Stripe" - just kidding.

Paris, however, sounds like Bob Marley -cough- if he had 20 spliffs, 5 Guinness, 3 Red Stripes, got stuck in a vocoder and was struggling with laryngitis…and bronchitis.

There is no question she and Storch deliberately ripped off “Kingston Town.” It’s the same lyric, but changed up a bit, same melody, same harmony and same sound. That’s one of the worst, most blatant rip offs I have ever come across. Just foul.

The link posted by an unknown message board user on TMZ (which is ironically owned by her label at the time, Warner Bros, who clearly doesn't properly monitor feedback on said site) lead to a song clip on UB40's site. I also bought the download from Wal-Mart online last year to check and lo and behold, yes she did rip off UB40 as well.

Here's an analysis I did of the songs today ~~to help them burn her thieving butt in court if they read this~~ for your reading pleasure:

SIMILARITIES

There are definitely similarities in lyrics, music and melody that any objective person will find.

1. The songs have the exact same melody.

2. The songs are sung exactly the same.

3. The songs have the same drumfill entering and exiting verses and choruses, but in different drums and pitches. However, it is the same rhythmic pattern.

4. The songs are both reggae.

5. The songs both end singing the same line multiple times and saying "oh"

6. UB40's lyric: "Stars Shine So Bright"

Paris's lyric that also became the song's title: "Stars Are Blind"

7. When sung one after another, sound a whole lot alike...like a continuation or barely changed remix with more lyrics added.

8. Both songs are about a search for the right person.

9. In UB40's song, lead singer Ali equates himself to being a king and needing a queen.

Paris equates herself with being an angel and a devil, and therefore in her crackhead mind, "perfect for" the guy.

10. UB40's Ali sings he wants to "see the girls at play"

Paris screeches in her rip off song that she wants to "be one of your girlfriends."
