Suge Knight Takes Plea Deal In Murder Case And Is Sentenced To 28-Years In Prison

September 20. 2018

Suge Knight

Former Death Row Records CEO, Marion “Suge” Knight terrorized the music industry for the better part of 25-years. Now he has been sentenced to 28-years in prison for running over two people with his vehicle, in an unprovoked dispute that occurred in 2015, arising from the making of the movie “Straight Outta Compton.”

The violent Bloods gang member, Knight, was angry that former Death Row Records partner, rapper and producer Dr. Dre (real name Andre Young) decided to do a biopic with fellow NWA group member, Ice Cube (Oshay Jackson). Due to the fact Knight knew he did many illegal and cruel things in the industry which impacted people like Dr. Dre, he feared what the finished film would look like.

When Knight realized he would not be able to exert any control over the making of the movie he became violent. First he sent goons to shoot up a location where the movie was being filmed near a courthouse. Then, Knight began turning up on the set and threatening Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. Security ejected Knight from the movie set. Shortly after, Knight stalked two people associated with the film and confronted them at a local restaurant.

Knight became angry, went into his vehicle and deliberately backed over Terry Carter and Cle Sloan. Carter died and Sloan was severely injured in the incident. Knight was arrested and indicted over the incidents. Today it was announced Knight pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 28-years in prison and with good behavior the sentence could be reduced.

Knight was facing life without the possibility of parole and accepted the plea deal, as he and his lawyers felt he would be convicted. After all, there is video footage of the incident, taken from CCTV cameras in the area, including that of the restaurant. Knight is in failing health and was rushed to the hospital twice during the trial for bloodclots that impaired his breathing.
