Wolverine Hurt By Piracy Pt 2

May 5. 2009

Remember on Saturday, May 2, 2009 in the Wolverine Trailing Behind Predecessor In Sales article I wrote:

"So, unless Fox pulls a fast one, like Warner Bros. and Sony have been known to do in industry circles, in both music and film, to unethically inflate sales numbers, the film has sustained financial damage, as it should not be trailing its predecessor, for such a massive release."

Well, it turns out I was right. Two days later it was announced the "Wolverine" numbers were inflated by almost $3 million dollars.

Monday, Fox revised its numbers for box office sales and "Wolverine" actually made $85 million this past weekend, not $87 million, which is even worse, regarding the damage piracy caused.

This means Wolverine made $38,000,000 less than its predecessor during opening weekend. Once again, as the release wears on, the financial damage shall become more apparent and fully inline with what I predicted for long term sales.
