Theresa May And Amber Rudd's Terrible Immigration Policies Will Not Get Them Reelected In The Face Of European Union And Windrush Deportation Orders

April 16. 2018

British Home Secretary Amber Rudd and Prime Minister Theresa May have let their disdain for immigrants cloud their judgment in acts that will cost Britain a fortune and create labor shortages, especially at the NHS

Politicians are supposed to enter politics with the goal of improving people's lives. However, the British Home Office under Prime Minister Theresa May and Home Secretary, Amber Rudd is destroying lives. May and Rudd are trying to purge everyone they can from Britain who isn't full British.

This includes European Union citizens and Caribbean people, two groups who have been in Britain for a long time. May's predecessor, David Cameron, tabled the Brexit referendum, which became the vote for Britain to leave the European Union. It has been said Cameron told the EU he could deliver Britain to them, but the vote ended up going the other way, resulting in Brexit and his abrupt resignation.

The vote to leave the European Union prevailed by 1,000,000 votes. However, the vote was tainted, as people like former London Mayor, Boris Johnson, and UKIP politician, Nigel Farage, ran a dishonest, deceitful campaign, telling the British people they've completely lost their sovereignty to the EU and the £19 billion a month they pay to the European Union is a waste, promising said money could instead be spent on the National Health Service (NHS), benefits for Britons and schools.

British voters were also told the nation would remain in the European Union's lucrative Single Market (special, low trade tariffs and deals) and Customs Union (lower rates and easier access to the European Union's 500,000,000 consumers, in moving British products into one of the world's biggest, most prosperous trading blocs in the world).

The British people believed the aforementioned politicians and other public figures telling them the same and the vote went through to leave the EU. However, none of the promises have been kept that Johnson, Farage and their peers touted. The NHS is still in dire need of extra funding. School budgets are still very tight. May is still slashing benefits of the poor and disabled, which I don't agree with (the cuts should have centered on benefits cheats wearing designer clothes and living in posh homes furnished with luxury items).

Theresa May

After the vote went through, May informed Britain that it would be a "hard Brexit" not a "soft" one as previously promised by some, meaning the nation would be out of the Single Market and Customs Union. This move is going to prove financially damaging in many ways. It is a terrible idea and one that will cause significant financial loss in Britain. British businesspeople are going to be hit hard by the "hard Brexit" decision. Some are already publicly complaining of financial losses due to EU clients taking their business elsewhere and British pound declines).

The decision to leave the EU took some value off the pound. A few trillion in wealth has disappeared from Britain since the 2016 vote, which prominent Brits, such as Sir Richard Branson, have publicly complained about, as they've lost billions of pounds. When the pound was higher, you could buy more for your money. Brits were also richer due to the more valuable currency.

British businesspeople have lost clients who have begun relocating to EU member states. British businesspeople are also facing greater financial costs in getting their products into the EU (which collectively is a bigger economy than Britain, placing the ball in the EU's court under a "hard Brexit"). This means added operating costs and less revenues. It is eating into their businesses' bottom-line, which will only get worse if May pushes Brexit through in a year's time.

The vote was held in 2016 and in 2017 May triggered Article 50, marking the beginning of the 2-year waiting period to leave the European Union. The European Union is a trading bloc who must look out for its members above all (which makes sense, as what's the sense of joining a club and paying big dues if you do not get special perks, privileges and prosperity from it). The EU has been pulling investments, jobs and businesses out of Britain, relocating them to other member states such as Germany and France, among others, costing Britain over 200 billion in deals thus far.

Theresa May

Johnson and Farage constantly insulted the EU as well, which was not a good idea, considering they need to trade with them after a "hard Brexit." Not to mention, it has hurt the feelings of countless EU citizens and their politicians, who thought the nation was a friend. They are stunned and disappointed. The departure from the EU was made all the more difficult because of these remarks, which has the EU thinking Britain hates them, when many Britons do not have negative feelings towards the European Union.

Many Brits are in relationships with or married to people from the European Union. They are not happy with the vote and publicly voiced their displeasure on social networking. May did not even want to allow EU citizens to remain in Britain, which caused widespread offense. Millions of people's lives were up in the air, which is very unfair.

The EU played hardball with May over the issue, as over 1,500,000 Britons live in European Union states. If May would not guarantee the rights of EU citizens in Britain, the EU would not guarantee the rights of British citizens in EU states. Finally, a deal was struck, allowing EU citizens to remain in Britain and Britons to remain in EU states.

I've read horrible immigration stories in the British press, from newspapers such as the Guardian and Telegraph, denouncing May's behavior regarding her very poor policies on the subject. I've read of people with a British parent being handed deportation papers by May and Rudd via the Home Office. It is as if May and Rudd are trying to purge everyone from Britain who is not 100% British and that is racist and xenophobic. No Home Secretary or Prime Minister has ever gone to such extremes. It is appalling and destroying lives.

Shane Ridge and his mother Sue

Take for example, Shane Ridge. He is 21-years-old. He was born and raised in Britain. His father, grandfather, great-grandfather and so on, were born and raised in Britain as well. This means, Shane has thousands of British ancestors through his father. His mother was born and raised in Australia, a nation which is a member of the British Commonwealth (but they are leaving after the Queen dies, due to historical offenses from the British government). Shane's parents met, fell in love and he was conceived in Britain.

Shane recently applied for a British passport to go on vacation abroad and was sent deportation papers by Rudd and May's Home Office. Now he can't rent a flat (apartment), have a bank account or driver's license in his own country, where he has been branded an illegal under May's terrible policies. Shane is also no longer eligible for medical care either.

This young man's whole life has been turned upside down, causing him significant distress, feelings of uncertainty and financial loss, in the country he was born and raised and has extensive ancestral links to through his paternal forbearers. How can this be considered right, decent or humane. It is appalling and despicable.

Truth be told, it looks foolish and incompetent on May's cabinet. However, the British government is not foolish and incompetent. They're actually quite smart. May is pretending certain facts and laws do not exist, in trying to hit immigration targets to reduce the number of immigrants in Britain, which she has been talking about for years (even on television). May has been ruthlessly working to achieve this disgraceful goal, even if it destroys the lives of Britons such as Shane and lawful immigrants such as EU citizens and Caribbeans who were invited to Britain decades ago.

Let that sink it, May and Rudd sent deportation papers to a British born man with British ancestry through his dad. He is now having to pay thousands of British pounds in legal and administrative fees, which he can't afford, to fight to remain in the nation he was born and raised. That is so unjust. How is he ever supposed to feel good about his country again after what was done to him by May and Rudd. It is evil and despicable on the part of May and Rudd. This foolishness is not in the best interest of Britain, as these stories are filtering out all over the world and making the British government look bad.

Irene Kaali

24-year-old Irene Kaali was born and raised in Britain. Irene is a teacher, who has paid taxes in Britain for years. She recently applied for a British passport, but was sent deportation papers by May and Rudd. Irene's parents are from Tanzania. They lawfully lived in Britain on visas when she conceived and born. She has never lived in or visited Tanzania. She is a productive member of British society, but is being thrown out by May and Rudd, who are violating United Nations laws regarding Irene (and many others) "stateless." Under UN laws a person cannot be rendered "stateless."

British man Dominic James, his American wife Katy James and their 2-year-old daughter Madeleine

Theresa May and Amber Rudd issued deportation orders for 2-year-old Madeleine James and her American  mom Katy James, because her British born and raised husband, Dominic James, a musician, allegedly doesn't make enough money. The couple have been married for 9-years. Under May and Rudd's rules, "The British spouse must have available funds equivalent to a minimum annual income of £18,600 and this rises to £22,400 for families with a child."

He earns £18,600 and she has a degree, but was recently made redundant in Scotland. The family have filed an appeal in their immigration case, but still face the prospect of the family splitting up. How is breaking up families a good thing. A little child is involved. What kind of evil conduct is this. May and Rudd's behavior is really terrible. I am well and truly appalled by all the stories I have been reading in the press regarding these unnecessary, foolish and destructive deportations.

Windrush

May and Rudd are actively and illegally deporting Windrush immigrants who legally arrived in Britain decades ago, as stated in the March 23, 2017 article "The British Government's Drastic New Immigration Policies Breaking Up Families In Detaining Caribbean People Who Are Lawfully In Britain."

Beginning in the 1940s, Britain contacted nations in the Caribbean asking for people to come to the mother country (Britain) to help rebuild after World Ward II and fill various job positions in the nation, due to significant labor shortages. Caribbean immigrants built much of the extensive British transportation system being used everyday in Britain. Caribbean immigrants also built a number of buildings in Britain.

Not to mention, due to the sometimes deadly slave trade Britain waged in Jamaica that left a number of Jamaicans dead, after being involuntarily brought from Africa (tortured, killed, overworked), the money from the free slave labor that created sugar exports, was used to build many historic buildings in Britain. British crown and government sponsored piracy in Jamaica, also brought gold, jewels and money to the British royal family and Treasury.

Under the British Nationality Act of 1948, these Caribbean immigrants to Britain, who were told they could bring their children as well (who arrived on their parents' passports) were given "the same rights as Britons" under the legally binding, aforementioned law. Caribbean citizens and their children who arrived between 1948-1971 were given permanent residency in Britain. Many never applied for British citizenship because the law stated they have a permanent legal right to live in Britain. Not to mention, the citizenship fee under the circumstances is over £1500 and the average person doesn't even have that in their savings account in Britain.

Windrush immigrants

May and Rudd now see an illegal loophole in the law, as the British government did not keep proper records of any of the arrivals under Windrush and a law was introduced in modern times, stating schools do not have to keep records beyond 20-years. May and Rudd are now playing dumb and sending deportation papers to Windrush immigrants who arrived in the country between 1948-1971.

May and Rudd are not idiots. They are highly educated women. They understand logic and can add. They are deporting Caribbean immigrants to Britain who have parents buried in Britain and also have children and grandchildren born in Britain. Logic would tell you they came to Britain within the legal period of immigration. However, as the British government did not record Windrush immigrants and their children who lawfully arrived in Britain after weeks at sea, school records from that time period having been destroyed by order of the government, there is no proof. What May and Rudd are doing is nasty and vile. I denounce it in the strongest terms.

Caribbean people who have paid trillions in taxes into the British system beginning in the 1940s are being thrown out of Britain by May and Rudd and denied their pensions they paid for through decades of hard work. May and Rudd are spitting on preexisting laws of Britain that gave them the legal right to live in Britain indefinitely.

These Caribbeans are now old, some are sick and disabled. Heartless, evil May and Rudd are kicking them out to Caribbean nations they have not lived in since they were little children. They did not pay taxes into the Caribbean system either, paying money into the British treasury, with their money (pensions) now being taken by May and Rudd, who are behaving like two corrupt cheats. That is appalling. Many have also had to sell their homes and flats, while some used their savings to pay legal fees to fight this evil by May and Rudd.

Windrush immigrants

There are instances of May and Rudd, behaving like sadists, in throwing old, sick and disabled Caribbean people into British dentition centers (jail), treating them like criminals, when they have been lawfully living in Britain for decades under the British Nationality Act of 1948. May and Rudd are criminally violating the British Nationality Act of 1948. People online are stating May and Rudd are treating old Caribbeans like "slaves" and "slave labor" whose use has expired and need to be discarded.

May and Rudd's conduct tells the world they cannot be trusted and their word means nothing. It is not in the British government's best interest that this terrible precedent has been set, as no previous Prime Minister or Home Secretary did such a sniveling, sneaky, disgraceful, dishonest and dishonorable thing.

This has now become a scandal regarding May and her government. People on social networking are slamming May and her cabinet, which spells bad news for them come election time. What May and Rudd fail to realize is many of the people who are slamming them online are white, British born people, who will not vote for her or Rudd in the next election (provided the two women don't resign under coming scandals).

May is also refusing to meet with the High Commissioners for 12 Caribbean nations to discuss her behavior in this matter. At be woman enough to explain why you are breaking the laws of the country and harming scores of innocent people to hit your unrealistic immigration reduction targets that is going to create massive labor shortages and financial losses.

Last week, a petition received the required 100,000 signatures in a matter of days, meeting the criteria for the issue to be debated in Parliament. May and Rudd need to give an account of themselves and stop behaving like Britain is their personal property to do with what they wish without consequences, the law be damned. And make no mistake, there will be far reaching electoral and social consequences from these inhumane immigration decisions. It shall be embedded in world history in a horrendous way, shaming and disgracing May and Rudd forever.

Furthermore, I don't know how May expects these trade deals with the Commonwealth to go, which she spoke of last year, when they see a steady stream of their people pouring back into their nations after several decades in Britain, now old, sick and disabled, with their pensions illegally taken by May. All May is doing is making enemies in the world and it is not going to work out for her government. She has offended two of Britain's biggest trade partners - the European Union and the Caribbean.

May is not going to play hardball and win, as the industrial age in Britain ended in the early 1990s (and for years I have advised in articles online that Britain restart that industrial revolution in their nation for the benefit of its citizens and economy, but it has not been done, leaving the country vulnerable). Real estate has been a big source of income in Britain, but housing prices are steeply dropping due to Brexit, creating less of a demand in London and a decrease in land wealth for Britons.

May, Rudd and their cabinet cannot insult sizeable trading blocs, then state give us your money in big trade deals. They will financially punish May over these serious offenses by issuing unfavorable trade deals, regarding things stated in the EU Parliament (Brexit) as well as the mistreatment of the elderly Caribbeans (Windrush deportations).

They will also return insult for insult by publicly stripping the Queen from their nations. They've mulled it before. This will give them the impetus to publicly go through with it, due to the gross disloyalty May is showing the Commonwealth. May is also underestimating the fact that Canada and America are right next door to the Caribbean. Not to mention, China has been making trade deals in the Caribbean as well. If May continues spitting in the Caribbean's face, there will be financial and social consequences for her government. It will not be tolerated.

I stated in the March 23, 2018 article "The British Government's Drastic New Immigration Policies Breaking Up Families In Detaining Caribbean People Who Are Lawfully In Britain" that May is treating Britain's friends in the world (the EU and Commonwealth) like enemies, when we are not Britain's enemies. It takes especially appalling politicians (like Cameron, May, Rudd and Johnson) to turn friends into enemies. And in the end, world history will record them as "fools" for having done it. The British people will not thank you for having isolated the country in the world.

Another case in point, London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, a Muslim and Labour party member, got into a pointless Twitter war with U.S. President Donald Trump over his Muslim ban in America. It is understandable than Khan was hurt by the Muslim ban (which I am not in favor of either), but Trump is not the kind of man to take such comments well, via telling him he is banned from Britain.

Months later, Trump hit Britain (and other nations) with new tariffs, which shocked and upset May. It's the last thing she needed after Britain losing a fortune from the Brexit vote. However, for months I warned it was going to happen (British Prime Minister Theresa May And London Mayor Sadiq Khan In Danger Of Losing Election Votes).

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and Prime Minister Theresa May

Then there's Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, going around issuing racial and ethnic slurs in the international community. British people have slammed his poor conduct in this regard, in a number of posts on social networking. Johnson stated when the Queen tours the Commonwealth she is met with "cheering crowds of flag-waving piccaninnies" and in the Congo, former Prime Minister Tony Blair is greeted with "watermelon smiles."

Johnson was a massive proponent of Brexit. This coupled with the racial slurs he issues is ironic, as he is not fully British. He is not even fully Anglo-Saxon. Johnson's grandfather is from Turkey. I have nothing against Turkey. I bring up his ancestry because he is saying mean and offensive things about foreigners and immigrants, blissfully in denial about his own genealogy.

I do not understanding the behavior of some, not all, politicians in London, such as May, Rudd and Johnson. You're decisions are not in the best interest of Britain. It is costing the country a fortune in needed revenues and offending many people that counted Britain as friends in the world.

"Rivers Of Blood"

Enoch Powell

The BBC, which is the taxpayer funded national network, aired "Rivers Of Blood" this past weekend, on the 70th anniversary of Windrush. "Rivers Of Blood" contains a racist diatribe by politician Enoch Powell, who wanted Britain purged of all immigrants from places such as India and the Caribbean. Powell used racial slurs during the speech, such as referring to black children as "grinning piccaninnies." Powell also complained that due to black immigrants coming to Britain "the black man will have the whip hand over the white man" which never happened. Powell was a false prophet and racist racebaiter, who divided the nation and offended many.

Rupert Murdoch is under the delusion he owns Britain

Many on social networking condemned the BBC's decision to re-air the old speech. However, I'm glad they did as it proved my point about what the once storied BBC has become. This incident proved my past statements and articles correct, in stating the BBC has become a racist network in modern times being illegally run by known racist Rupert Murdoch and the Hollywood Illuminati cult he belongs too, who are going to cause the BBC to collapse and bring about the ruination of Britain:

Madonna's Criminal Conduct At The BBC In Britain Has Nasty Racist Slavery Connotations To It (Anthony Joshua, Daniel Kaluuya)

Rupert Murdoch Has Been Running Sky And The BBC In Criminal Violation Of British Law

Madonna's Kabbalah Cult Is A Threat To British National Security (Harvey Weinstein, Rupert Murdoch, Kevin Spacey)

Hypocrite Carrie Underwood Calls For An End To Slavery But She And Her Bosses Simon Cowell, Simon Fuller And Rupert Murdoch Behave Like Slavetraders Behind The Scenes

Is The British Government Doing Enough To Protect Athletes Such As Footballers

The British Public Wants The BBC License Fee Abolished

Rupert Murdoch's London Office Raided By Police

British politicians like former Prime Ministers, Tony Blair and David Cameron, sold out the British people to Murdoch and his sick cult, to get good press in his improperly acquired newspapers and on his half-owned Sky (cable broadcasting). Murdoch also blackmailed British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown (Rupert Murdoch Illegally Accessed The Medical Records Of The Prime Minister's Sick Child). Ironically, pro-Brexit, mass spying madman Murdoch is one of the people whose illegal conduct is on track to cause the ruination of Britain.

Labor Shortages

Dr. Amany Abdelmeguid, her daughter and husband

The current purge of immigrants by May is creating other problems, such as labor shortages. Britain does not have enough doctors, nurses and teachers. There are a number of articles on the subject. With Britain leaving the EU, the problem shall become exponentially worse.

Recently, I read about a physician from Egypt, Dr. Amany Abdelmeguid. The British government invited her (and others from the international community) to Britain to work as doctors, sponsoring their Tier 2 visas through Health Education England. However, she had to leave her husband and daughter in Egypt, because the visa did not cover them.

It is inhumane and unethical for May and Rudd to ask doctors to leave their spouses and children behind for years, to be doctors in Britain, like they have no rights to a family life. You're treating people like they not entitled to rights and a happy home life. These immigrants are not slaves. They are human beings.

If you are going to keep treating foreign doctors like this, many will opt to go elsewhere in nations where they are allowed to bring their spouse and children, while they work to save lives. Then, the NHS will not only burst from lack of funding, but labor shortages as well (considering it takes 7-years to train a doctor and the system can't wait that long for new physicians).

Dr. Abdelmeguid's case is one of many in a variety of fields in Britain. David Cameron, then May and Rudd, have been engaging in behavior that is running away bright, talented people in the fields of medicine, science and education. Britain needed these people. They run off some good people. The full extent of these poor political choices shall manifest in the not too distant future and the British people will be very upset when they see the full extent of the damage from said political decisions.

Forthcoming Elections

May and Rudd can forget about getting reelected. They've offended the spouses and significant others of so many Britons with what they've done in Brexit and Windrush, they will see a dip in votes. This site is read by millions as well and I will not endorse them either. I am also creating new sites and they will not be endorsed on those sites either, for their terrible conduct and inhumane treatment of immigrants and Britons. I will speak out against them being reelected...starting now.

Ladies, prepare for life after politics. Actually, I think May is going to run from that job under coming scandals. I am going to make a prediction (as I have done countless times on this site, then it happened). The irony regarding these same politicians, such as May, Rudd and Johnson, who have created this "hostile environment" for immigrants as they call it, will themselves be immigrants when the British people begin demanding they leave for wrecking the country in coming scandals.

They will apply to places such as Switzerland, who will brand them a high profile risk, too costly to guard and hated by locals and international citizens, for their behavior in their home country that harmed innocent people. Then, these same politicians and their families will feel the same "hostile environment" and hate they unleashed on immigrants in Britain and Brits born of a foreign parent. What goes around comes around.

You really think after wrecking the country with poor EU and Commonwealth decisions, which is going to financially deteriorate the British way of life (plus other coming scandals with Rupert Murdoch, the FBI and others) that the British people are not going to stare at you with nothing but sheer contempt and hatred in their eyes and insult you and your families at every turn. You really think you can handle the hateful stares, soul shatteringly mean comments and public booing everywhere you go. They are going to hate you and it is a hatred that will break you, for wrecking the country.

You're not going to be able to stay prisoners in country homes for the rest of your lives, unable to venture outside without being looked upon in the worst way possible and treated with nothing but contempt. Your families will abhor being related to you, after the end result of your poor choices financially deteriorate the British way of life at home and name in the world.

You need to fix what you've done, because you are going to fall apart and crack up under the "hostile environment" that is going to come from your own nation when the government can't afford benefits anymore, historic institutions ended up shuttered due to lack of funding, as the United Kingdom breaks up into four nations due to Brexit and crappy decisions about the Commonwealth, Murdoch and other matters. Sadly, it will be Prime Minster Corbyn, who is going to spend way too much money and create another set of problems (provided May doesn't ruin him first and she will try).

And whoever doesn't like this article, that's too bad. I've got British blood in me and I'll say whatever I want to on this subject. At the end of the day, I want what is best for Britain and that's not deporting lawful citizens, cutting benefits to the poor and disabled, the UK breaking up with Scotland leaving then Wales and Northern Ireland following suit, due to EU departures and pending political scandals from offending friends and trade partners such as the EU and Caribbean, costing the country a fortune in money and goodwill.

The government doesn't seem to grasp the fact that what the are doing could impoverish Britain and break up the country under referendums. The English way of life would change and not for the better. It would mark a financial downturn and social fall.

To the British people, I have nothing against you. I love you and wish you well. Britain is such a beautiful, genteel country. I love it. It is a wonderful place and it pains me to see how a handful of politicians are damaging it. What they are doing is not in the best interest of the country and has the serious potential of greatly damaging your way of life.

I have no vested financial interest in this matter regarding Brexit or the deportations, as they do not affect anyone I know. Therefore, you can trust that I have no ulterior motive. On a human level, a person would have to be heartless not to feel compassion and sympathy for those whose lives are being uprooted and destroyed by May and Rudd. It is terrible.

I am telling you for the good of the nation, turn around and stop this mess before you completely ruin Britain. Call off Brexit, stop handing out these mass deportation orders to people lawfully in the country and put a stop to Murdoch and company's crimes in Britain.

Man born and raised in UK told he is not a British citizen

Tue 29 Aug 2017 11.27 EDT Last modified on Mon 27 Nov 2017 12.50 EST - Home Office tells Shane Ridge he must leave country because English father never married Australia-born mother. A 21-year-old man who was born and raised in Britain has been told to leave the UK by the Home Office because he is not a British citizen.

Shane Ridge, a joiner from Colne in Lancashire who describes himself as “as British as they come”, received a letter from the Home Office last week informing him that his driving licence would be revoked as he had “no lawful basis to be in the UK”. It came as a surprise because all of Ridge’s relatives are British citizens. His mother was born in Australia during a family holiday, but has lived in Britain since then and has dual citizenship.

Under UK law, if a child was born before July 2006, the father’s British nationality will usually only automatically pass to the child if he was married to the mother at the time of birth. Because Ridge’s parents never married, he does not have an automatic right to citizenship and is required to apply for “right of abode”. Ridge said he did not know that his right to citizenship was not automatic, and is confused after being told he would have to leave his family behind or risk jail or a £5,000 fine for living illegally in the UK...

No 10 refuses Caribbean request to discuss children of Windrush

British residents threatened with deportation to countries they left as children and have not returned to since

Sun 15 Apr 2018 11.04 EDT Last modified on Mon 16 Apr 2018 03.47 EDT - ‘I’m here legally, but they’re asking me to prove I’m British.’ No 10 acknowledged that a request had been received from the Caribbean high commissioners and confirmed that a meeting had not been scheduled.

Downing Street has rejected a formal diplomatic request to discuss the immigration problems being experienced by some Windrush-generation British residents at this week’s meeting of the Commonwealth heads of government, rebuffing a request from representatives of 12 Caribbean countries for a meeting with the prime minister.

“We did make a request to the CHOGM summit team for a meeting to be held between the prime minister and the Commonwealth Caribbean heads of government who will be here for the CHOGM and regrettably they have advised us that that is not possible,” said Guy Hewitt, the Barbados high commissioner.

The refusal has given Caribbean diplomats the impression that the UK government is not taking a sufficiently serious approach to the problem that is affecting large numbers of long-term UK residents who came to Britain as children. Some have been threatened with deportation to countries they left as children 50 years ago and have not returned to since. Others have been denied access to healthcare, lost jobs or been made homeless because they do not have sufficient paperwork to prove they have the right to be in the UK.

Hewitt said the numbers of people coming forward to say they were affected by the immigration anomaly were “increasing exponentially”. Satbir Singh, the chief executive of the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI), said dozens of people had contacted the charity seeking help after publicity around the issue last week.

Downing Street acknowledged that a request had been received from the Caribbean high commissioners and confirmed that a meeting had not been scheduled. Although the subject is not on the CHOGM agenda, officials said there would be “a number of opportunities” for the heads of delegations to meet the prime minister and discuss this “important issue”.

Seth George Ramocan, the Jamaican high commissioner, said he would be seeking to raise the issue despite the lack of a formal meeting. “We have senior citizens in limbo. It is not explicitly on the agenda, but we want our heads of government to bring it to the attention of the wider body,” he said...

NHS doctor must leave the UK to look after daughter in Egypt

Mon 29 Jan 2018 07.42 EST - Last modified on Mon 29 Jan 2018 17.00 EST - Mother came as part of NHS recruitment drive but Home Office says daughter can’t join her. Amany Abdelmeguid’s daughter is in Egypt with her grandparents, who are now dangerously ill. The Home Office is forcing an NHS doctor to leave the country rather than give her three-year-old daughter, currently living with her dangerously ill grandparents in Egypt, permission to come to the UK.

Amany Abdelmeguid came to the UK from Egypt in 2016 on a Tier 2 visa, sponsored by Health Education England as part of a drive to recruit junior doctors in the UK. At the same time, her husband – an anaesthetist – took a job in Saudi Arabia to get the training he needed to also work for the NHS.

The couple’s daughter, Layan, was left in Egypt with her paternal grandparents. At the time, the elderly couple were in good health. But the application has taken so long – the government guidance says 100% of applications from Cairo are processed in 15 days, but Abdelmeguid was forced to wait three months – that their health has now deteriorated to the point they can no longer look after their granddaughter....
