Will Jeremy Corbyn And His Labour Party Abolish The British Monarchy

March 30. 2018

The Royal Family

The head of the British Labour party, Jeremy Corbyn, has refused to stand down after losing the 2017 general election by a small margin, to rival and Prime Minister, Theresa May. Corbyn still believes he will be Prime Minister in the next election. Corbyn publicly expressed his view that the British monarchy should be abolished. Corbyn, like many people, believes there should be a meritocracy rather than a monarchy.

Jeremy Corbyn

When some in government opposed the idea, Corbyn backed off. However, Corbyn is known for stating his views, but if they are met with criticism, he will pretend to back off, then restate them at a later date. He has been doing this for years, as reflected by his press clippings. While I do no agree with some of Corbyn's liberal views and I do think May's conservatism has helped Britain in some ways, I do think the monarchy will be abolished via vote and I'm in favor of it (Britain and Commonwealth).

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

The royal family is not a top earning tourist attraction, are costing the British people a fortune every year, have unlawfully gotten involved in domestic/international political matters and are terribly racist. Prince Harry, who wore a Nazi shirt a few short years ago and uttered racial slurs on tape against Pakistanis, marrying half black actress, Meghan Markle, a "darkie" which is a disdainful term Prince Phillip has disgracefully referred to people of color as, is not going to fix that.

Jeremy Corbyn's Aide Wants Monarchy To End, Calls Prince Charles 'Hapless'

03/05/18 AT 2:08 AM - Not everyone is happy with the royal family. According to royal correspondent Camilla Tominey, Jeremy Corbyn's top aide, Seumas Milne, wants to abolish the monarchy. The Labour leader's strategy and communications chief described it as "reactionary and anti-democratic drag." In July 2013, following the birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton's first child, Prince George, Milne wrote, "ending the constitutional role" of "an unelected dynasty" would mean saving the youngest royal at that time.

Milne added that an "elected head of state is embarrassingly overdue." He also claimed that the role of the monarch is "seen as illegitimate and offensive by millions of its citizens." He also attacked its "hereditary privilege" and described the royal family as "dysfunctional."

"If the Royal Family were simply the decorative constitutional adornment its supporters claim, punctuating the lives of grateful subjects with pageantry and street parties, its deferential culture and invented traditions might be less corrosive. But the monarchy retains significant unaccountable powers and influence," he wrote. Milne also called Prince Charles "hapless." He believed that the Prince of Wales' popularity would decline when Queen Elizabeth II passes away...

The Queen should say sorry and be investigated for her offshore investments, says Jeremy Corbyn

6 November 2017 • 1:03pm - The Queen should apologise and be investigated for allowing her advisers to invest cash in offshore investments, Jeremy Corbyn has said. The Labour leader also said the Royal Household should be investigated over why the Queen's private estate allegedly invested £5.7 million in a Cayman Islands fund.

A further £5 million had been invested in 2004 in the Bermuda-based Jubilee Absolute Return Fund Ltd, files obtained from a law firm with operations in Bermuda and the Isle of Man, dubbed the Paradise Papers. The Queen’s assets are invested by the Duchy of Lancaster. Its investment strategy is decided by a council, and the Queen pays tax voluntarily on any income...

Corbyn Says Queen's Offshore Investments Should Be Probed

U.K. opposition Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn is calling for a inquiry into offshore investments and tax evasion. U.K. opposition Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn said an inquiry into offshore investments and tax evasion that he’s calling for should also cover Queen Elizabeth II’s holdings.

The monarch found her financial arrangements splashed over British newspaper front pages Monday after leaked information, known as the Paradise Papers, from Bermuda law firm Appleby Group Services Ltd. showed she had made a series of investments in a Cayman Islands fund through the British Royal Family’s private estate, the Duchy of Lancaster.

Labour has called for a public inquiry into what’s revealed by the documents, reported by a range of international media including the BBC and Britain’s Guardian newspaper. In an interview with Bloomberg Television in London on Monday, Corbyn said he also wants the royal investments to be looked at.

“There should be a review,” the Labour leader said. “An inquiry into all the revelations about the Paradise Papers.” Asked if that includes the queen, Corbyn replied: “Everybody. The Royal Household are subject to taxation. I don’t know what has happened in that case. These issues all must be part of that.”...
